Dear Jose,
thank you for participating in the student exchange program with me and for the Questions you asked at the end. I will give my best to answer them for you.
When you want to greet a person, it heavily depends on what relationship the person you’re facing is having to you. When you only speak with the person formally or never saw them before, you greet very formally with a phrase like “Guten Tag” which just means “Good day”. If you know them well or you are related to the person you can also say “Guten Tag” or, only to people close to you, you can instead say something like “Grüß Gott”, which means “Great God” or just say “Servus”. If you go out with friends in the evening, you must have an ID with you at any time and not be out too long.
When you eat with someone then you should avoid slurping or chewing too loud. Also, you shouldn’t talk with your mouth full.
In October we also have the Octoberfest exactly like in Bavaria. There you can drink beer and just have fun.
School in Austria begins at 8 in the morning. During the lessons you are only allowed to speak after raising your hand and being picked by the teacher. You are only allowed to go out of the school building after the school day or when you have a lunch break.
Generally, you can say that life is not so different in Vienna and the many rules are not hard to follow I am delighted to finally meet you in person,
Yours,
Florian
